Funeral services were held Saturday July 2 4 from Diehl's Funeral Chapel in Souris. Interment was in Glenwood Cem etery in Souris. Lloyd was born in Souris and at the age of two move d with his parents to Saskatchewan where the family farmed in the Clay don, Gull Lake and Admiral districts. In 1937 he returned to Souris, M anitoba and in 1939 was united in marriage to June Johnson of Scotsgua rd, who predeceased him in 1941 after the birth of their twin sons Llo yd, now of Winnipeg, and Lynn now of Calgary. He later married Eva Smi th and to this marriage three children were born, Carole (Mrs. Ron Bar clay) of Souris, David and Dianne of Brandon. Lloyd was keenly interes ted in music, and enjoyed many hours at his organ. He took much pleasu re in entertaining the senior citizens' organization in Souris, with m usic, and his presence will be much missed by friends and family. He w orked as a machinist and a farmer. Besides his wife, five children, an d eight grandchildren, Lloyd leaves to mourn his passing his mother Mr s. Annie McBurney, of Port Coquitlam, BC, one brother Stuart of Admira l and Swift Current, and five sisters, Ilene Corkery of Port Coquitlam , BC, Mary Mortensen of Gull Lake, Sask., Dora McBurney of Dauphin, Ma n., Ruth Williams of Souris, Manitoba and Pat Hymers of Swift Current . Lloyd was predeceased by his father John A. McBurney in 1956.

Lloyd Richard McBurney, 62, died suddenly Thursday. July 22nd at his r esidence on Glenwood Street.
He was born in Souris in March. 1914, and as a youngster moved with hi s family to Saskatchewan In 1916 settling fast at East End, later at G ull Lake and Admiral where he received his education. Returning to Man itoba in 1937 to Hartney he was employed at Isabey's Garage until 194 0 when he moved to Souris to operate the Imperial Oil Service Station . He later took employment with Murray's Garage for several years.
From 1944 to 1956 he was road construction foreman for Glenwood Munici pality and from laic 1956 to 1964 he was self-employed as a contractor . Later that same year he took the Allis Chalmers dealership retirin g in 1971 due ill health.
He married the former Eva Smith of Souris, in Brandon in December. 194 1.
Mr. McBurney was greatly interested in professional sports and very fo nd of music and enjoyed entertaining the guests at Victoria Park Lodge . To those who knew him, he was always willing and helpful in aidin g others. especially when mechanical difficulties occurred.
He was a chattered member of the Souris Lions Club, Souris District Me n’s Club and the United Church.
Besides his wife, Mr. McBurney is survived by his mother, Mrs. A. C Mc Burney of Port Coquitlam. B.C.; one son David of Brandon; two daughter s, Mrs. R. (Carole) Barclay of Souris and Miss Diane McBurney of Brand on; one brother, Stuart McBurney of Admiral; five sisters, Mrs. V. (Il ene) Corkery of Port Coquitlam, Mrs. C (Mary) Mortenson of Gull Lake , Mrs. F (Dora) McBurney of Dauphin. Mrs. K. (Ruth) Williams of Souri s and Mrs. C. The following was written for Lloyd & June's Wedding day.

A quiet wedding took place at the United Church parsonage, Souris, o n Wednesday afternoon, July 12, when Miss June Evelyn Johnson, daughte r of Mr. & Mrs. Lars Johnson of Scotsguard, was united in marriage t o Mr. Lloyd Richard McBurney, Hartney. Reverend A. D. Menzies perform ed the ceremony in the presence of Miss Patricia McBurney and Mr. Stew art McBurney. Others attending were Mr. & Mrs. C. Mortenson and Mis s Ruth McBurney of Gull Lake, and Mr. Kenneth Williams of Mentieth. F ollowing the ceremony the bridal party enjoyed a dinner at the Chocola te Shop. Mr. & Mrs. McBurney will reside in Hartney. Best wishes fo r a happy married life are extended to these young folks.
