In their younger years, Tom and his brother Willie lived at Pine Point , Lot 36, Huron Township, Bruce County, Ontario. They ran a post offi ce and a carriage shop. Tom handled the woodwork and Willie did the i ronwork.

Uncle Tom was a great hunter, especially geese. He liked to take a dr ink, but didn't want anyone to know. Came out to Jim's place and go t out of his Model T Ford. Had to hang on to it. "He was a tough ol d sucker" according to Joyce McBurney.
