bullet  General Notes:

Dick was a conductor on the Canadian Pacific Railroad. Martha was an assistant Librarian. She enjoyed playing golf. Marthas family was from Souris, Manitoba. At one time they lived on a 1/4 section close to Earl McBurney in the 1920-30's, but didn't work the land. Dick went out west in 1892 at 17 years of age.

In 1901, Dick travelled to Lethbridge with the family of his cousin, Reuben Tiffin. As reported in a history by Beryl Tiffin, "On the way out they met a cousin, Dick McBurney, at Winnipeg who wanted to go west too, and so he hopped on the box car and rode with Bert and Jack.".
This history also reported "Dick McBurney, the cousin who boarded the train at Winnipeg along with Rube, went to Cranbrook and found work there. Rube was soon employed on the railroad and continued the service on the Canadian Pacific Railway until his retirement in 1940. Dick also was employed by the Canadian Pacific Railway and also continued until his retirement. They both completed their service in Cranbrook, although they have worked in other centres in Western Canada." 2,48,323
