Family History. 2002 Willie & Mary farmed in Fitzroy Twp. until they moved west in 1907. One story states that when Willie Lowry and family arrived in Manitou at Ossie & Seddie Moorhead's on May 5, 1907 there was 5 feet of snow everywhere. Willie settled at Roseile. They were accompanied by Grandmother Lowry and she and Luella missed the train just by a moment in Winnipeg. Grandma said to the man at the gate "Can't you stop the train." He answered "Madam, they wouldn't stop for the Lord Himself." Included in Willie's settler's equipment was half a car of horses. He bought first the E1/2 Section 5-6-7 and later W1/2 as well. He sold to the Hutterites and retired to Roseile.
