• Family History. 1815,1816 Calvin spent some time in Mather, Man. (part time as a partner in a st ore in Mather), then went to Gibbon, Neb. where he had several Walke r cousins. Edith Campbell was a teacher before marriage and taught i n Calvin's old school. They met when he spent a winter in Canada at h is old home and she lived at his Uncle's next door. Calvin worked i n a hardware store for many years at Gibbon and for a time ra n his own store. He was an experienced carpenter, electrician and plu mber and left many houses improved by his handiwork. He was a Presbyt erian and served on the Board of Trustees in Gibbon from when the chur ch was built in 1909 until 1923, Sec-Treas. f r om 1915-1935, an elde r from 1926-1953 and clerk of session from 1926-1952. He was a Mason , being Sec-Treas of Gibbon Lodge No 189 for 29 yrs. He wore the Bron ze Jordan Medal from Nov 1, 1955 (it is worn by the Bro who has belong ed to the Lodge for the longest number of years). On Apr 26, 1958 h e was presented with a 50 yr. button. After her death IOOF Lodge of G ibbon presented Calvin with the 50 yr. Jewel (he joined the lodge Jun e 6, 1906 in Mather, Man.). Edith was for many years a successful sal eswoman for Minnesota Woolens, Ltd. and covered a large territory in t he Gibbon district.
